FEATURES

Treasured History

The 2.32 acres of land was purchased from the owners of a large estate by a Mr. Ward, whose daughter was getting married and gave it to her and her husband as a wedding present. They hired the renowned architect Cameron Clark to design the house and his wife Agnes Selkirk Clark, landscape architect to design the gardens – those plans are part of the Smithsonian Gardens Collection. Cameron Clark was known for his millwork. The wood trim, handsome recessed bookcases, bridal staircases, handsome fireplace mantles, solid wood doors and beautiful window surrounds are the highlights of the architecture. The current owners are only the 2nd owners, purchasing the property in 2002. In 2009, they began a total renovation and large additions.
